Srinagar, July 07 (KNO): The director health services Kashmir on Wednesday directed all chief medical officers, medical superintendents and block medical officers to start Post-Covid care clinics with immediate effect.
In an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), director health has said that in order to cater the patients with Post-Covid medical issues and complications, all the CMOs, MSs, and BMOs are enjoined upon to start special Post-Covid Care Clinics with immediate effect in all the healthcare institutions under their administrative control.
It is pertinent to mention here that (DAK) on Tuesday said hospitals in Kashmir were witnessing a rise in number of patients with severe post-Covid complications.
DAK president and influenza expert, Dr Nisar ul Hassan said “We are getting many Covid patients with severe neurological complications weeks after recovery.”
He said that recovered Covid patients come with Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), an autoimmune disorder of peripheral nervous system in which body’s immune system attacks the healthy nerve cells.
He also said that patients who have recovered from Covid-19 return to hospitals with cardiac complications like myocarditis (inflammation of heart muscle) and even heart attacks.
“Cardiac complications are seen even in those who have no underlying heart disease and had experienced mild Covid-19 illness,” he said.
He said that the number of patients with post-Covid issues could be higher as many with post-Covid symptoms like fatigue, lethargy, headache, body ache and joint pain are not reporting to hospitals—(KNO)
